I found a ww2 medal in Ghana about a 3-4 hours north of the capital. It is the one that has a lion on top of a Pegasus or something and on the front there is king George VI and says GEORCIVS VI G.BR.OMN.REX ET INDIA IMP. Can someone tell me what it is doing there thank you.

The lion and the unicorn is the seal of Great Britain and the inscription is simply King George VI title in Latin, George VI, King of the United Kingdom and the Dominions and the Commonwealth and Emperor of India (he was the last emperor of India.) Ghana was a former British colony known as the Gold Coast and part of the West African Frontier Force so it's probably related to that. Do you have any more information on the medal?
