I was hoping that someone could provide me with some sources about Historical Materialism. I'm doing a presentation next week and I want to consider the Marxist side of the story. Unfortunately, I do not know enough about the subject yet. Hope someone could help me:)
It's probably better to ask this in a communist forum on Reddit (there are several), in order to go to the source.
Anyway, personally I recommend starting with Stalin's work Dialectical and Historical Materialism, which is an easier read than most on the subject, for someone who isn't familiar with Marxist lingo. In fact that's precisely why he wrote it, in order to have a simple, basic introductory work for people to start out with. In it, Stalin basically summarizes what the more in-depth works have to say.
This site includes a good list of other material on the subject, to go more in-depth on it.
