Asking because of the phrase WASP (white Anglo saxxon Protestant). Is the "white" redundant or were there non-white Anglo saxxon Protestants?
I promise I'm just curious out the acronym, not any shady racism stuff. Would ASP be as accurate as WASP?
WASP should really by W(AS) & P, but obviously that's a terrible acronym. The "Anglo-Saxon" of White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant isn't due to the presence of Anglo-Saxons of Colour, but rather to differentiate between "English" Americans and other 'white' waves of immigrants - such as Italian or Irish - in the ethnonationalist heirarches so common to migrant populations.
The Anglo-Saxons were very white, yes.
