The trouble is that we know very, very little of pre-Christian Scandinavian religion or religious ceremonies. The sources we do have for the period are either postdated by up to several centuries and loaded heavily with contemporary Christian morals and rhetoric, or simply just not at all trustworthy, and that's just for the core pantheon of deities and the basic tenets of worship.
