How widespread was the practise of using Japanese body parts (skulls, etc) as trophies by US soldiers during World War II?

I've seen at least one photo from TIME Magazine of a American woman looking at a skull that her US soldier boyfriend sent from New Guinea. But how widespread was the practise of turning Japanese body parts into trophies among US soldiers or even Allied soldiers in general?

Although not solely what you are asking, u/Georgy_K_Zhukov has a multipart answer on looting in World War 2 here. His last part talks about the desecration of Japanese soldiers. The links are merely places to start and are not intended to be a complete answer. Like all things history, more can always be said about this topic.
