How a war affects postwar politics?

by BaldrickJr

Hello there. I am helping a friend look for resources for an undergrad project, and since I am not a historian, thought it would pay to ask here. We have found this project site, https://elwar.uni.lu and we would like to have some suggestions on current literature/teams/scholars working on relevant stuff. There is no geographic or temporal restriction, we would like just some pointers to help him gather reading material. His professor also semi-suggested that he would prefer somewhat recent data, if that exists. Thanks a lot for your help

Edit: The way I understood it he is looking for sources regarding the following:

a.Formulation of political parties after a war. How did the outcome of the war affect older parties or led to creation of new ones.

b.What it says in the elwar project site: How the war plays in postwar narratives and the affect to institutions (ie in education. Denialism maybe, etc)

This is all I can think of. If I was the one who had this assignment, from what he told me, I would look for politics in post war Germany and post war France, the political parties, the financial policies and the education system. But I am a mathematics major so..yeah.. :-). I am sorry if this is vague, but it seems his professor just told him more or less "find my colleagues who deal with postwar politics around the globe, read their stuff and make a list", which seems a bit too much for me too. Maybe somebody wants to write a new book and is too busy to look for resources :-)

Hi there!

Since you are asking for sources, this question is fine under our rules for help with homework but as a small tip in order to get an answer, I think it would be really helpful to narrow it down a bit since as historians we hardly ever specialize in something as broad as "postwar politics" but rather into specific instances of postwar politics.

Thank you!
