Wikipedia says King George II was born on 30 October (Old Style) or 9 November (New Style). What does this even mean? What "style" are we in now?

It has to do with the adoption of the Gregorian calendar. In England this happened in 1752. The difference between the Julian (old style) and Gregorian (new style) calendars is eleven days, which were essentially "lost." George II was born October 30, 1683 but died in 1760, after the change. So with the new calendar his date of birth would have been November 9th.
