It is not the case that he took an Aramaic name and was influenced by semitic culture. Both of his parents were natives of Syria, though his father probably had actual Roman lineage. His mother was of the royal family of Emesa, which most scholars agree they were Arab in origin (many ancestors with Arabic names, but a few scholars claim Aramaic origins). So he didn't adopt these things. This was his native culture. If anything, his ancestors were Romanized. The influences of Semitic religion throughout the Roman Empire were not great. The fact that Egalabus (this is the name people started using for him after his death) demanded the Roman empire worship Egalabus(the god) is theorized to be a large reason why he fell out of favor with the elites. After he was assassinated, the Roman Empire removed the religious edicts that declared worship of the semitic god Egalabus.
