We've had, uh, 6 out of 10 comments here essentially just name-dropping Paul Volcker. Please keep in mind that here on /r/AskHistorians, we hold contributions to stringent standards, and we expect responses to be in-depth and comprehensive. A couple of sentences about late 70s-80s monetary policy doesn't cut the mustard - if OP wanted something that simplistic, they could have googled it themselves.
