I am an Indian and I know an overlay of many historical events as they were taught in school. But I want to go deep(but not so deep that I dont understand what's going on). So which books do you'll recommend for a person like me. And please only recommend books, no youtube videos or articles. Thank You.
Dennis Judd has a good into to British-Indian history, the British Raj. Barbara Metcalf wrote A Concise History of Modern India. Chris Bayly is also good, with several books. Jon E. Wilson's India Conquered is excellent. I'm not so good on earlier periods.
In addition to the suggestions here, there is a section of the booklist on India.
What specifically are you looking for? A book that covers the entirety of Indian history, or a book that focuses on a particular time period or region?
