Not sure how to phrase this, but I find it strange ancient Egyptians and the Aztecs/Mayans built the same structure buildings in terms of pyramids. Was there influence from one culture to the other, or did they build pyramids independent of their respective cultures?
Why weren’t they rectangular shaped buildings, or literally any other shape? Or is a pyramid the most logical shape in terms of structural integrity for the technology they had thus making it no mystery at all?
Sorry if this has been asked, I’ll settle for a link to that post if I’ve missed it.
Edit: Spelling
The oldest Egyptian pyramid is ~4600 years old. The classical Mayans lived ~1000 years ago. Be assured there is no influence between the two cultures. As for pyramids, these a primitive structure and relatively easy to build. Yes some are massive and impressive but still relatively simple. The oldest pyramids in the world are called Ziggurat and can be found in modern Iraq and are older than the ones in Egypt. BTW, its like asking about dragons (Nordic, Chineese, etc.) it does not mean that dragons are real, or that Vikings had been to China before Marco Polo.. right?!
