Was the American Civil War based solely on differing politics regarding slavery?

by UpLikeCrump

Or were there other hot issues that led to the south succeeding piled under slavery?

The South, as a section, had no distinct and unifying politics except that of the preservation of slavery. So no, there are no other issues feeding into the Civil War independent of it and to any substantive degree. It's all slavery. While we're always here to give answers, this is a question we get a lot and /u/Georgy_K_Zhukov has written an excellent, thorough summary of the situation.
