Did the British in the Napoleonic Wars ever consider making peace with Napoleon (after he had won such stunning victories)?

I mean, he pretty much dominated the Allies in the Continent until his diaster invading Russia. Were they ever planning to make peace before that on French terms? If they did, why didn’t Napoleon accept?

The British did sign a treaty ending what's generally referred to as the War of the Second Coalition, in which they recognized the revolutionary French government, in 1802. The treaty lasted until May of 1803, when the British again declared war on the French over a complicated set of issues related to the French occupation of Switzerland and Holland and the threat that the French would also take Hanover (which was of course the family seat of the British monarchs).

(Technically the war, or wars, that started in 1803 is what's referred to as the Napoleonic Wars, but most people generally refer to the whole period of war in Europe from the French Revolution through the Hundred Days as "Napoleonic wars.")

Is this the kind of thing you're wondering about? I can go into more detail if so.
