Are black samurai historically accurate?

by PeterRiveria

I remember seeing awhile ago on reddit that there were a few samurai of African ancestors. Iv also seen this played out in several TV series. I was wondering if there was any credible evidence available to support this or is it all hearsay. Thanks in advance for your time

Are you thinking of Yasuke?

He was a Portuguese slave presented to Oda Nobunaga, who took a liking to him and raised him up to be a samurai with a stipend. After Nobunaga's death he was captured by Akechi Mitsuhide's men (Nobunaga's killer) and returned to the Portuguese.
