I need help identifying this document written in French. The date seems to read 23 November 1500; however, while the paper type and quality could fit this date, the script is way to modern for this to be an accurate reading. From what I've been able to tell, I think it's a letter between brothers, but if anyone can decipher anything further that would be greatly appreciated!
Here's a link to the scan of the letter description and first page: https://imgur.com/a/mWWgV9I
Definitely (early?) 18th century writing, probably paper too. If you have it, check for a watermark and you can find out who made it (in that era in France it'd quite possibly be a Dutchman) Anyway, the more important stamp here is the one at the top "G. DE LION" is for the Généralité de Lyon - this is a notarized document, so it's not a personal letter but a bill of sale or something.
Anyway, I have to go to bed and don't have time to do the whole thing, but it starts with: (accents/cedillas added)
Pierre Demasso Chevalier
[??] Jean-Bap[tis]te Rochon, vigneron ha..
It's just formalia up tot his point though, still not quite sure what they're attesting.
I believe that it actually says November 23, 1700 (the 7 is just a bit wonky). You're right that this script is way too late for 1500.
The comment below is also right that this isn't a letter--this is a notarized document--a quittance specifically--that acknowledges receipt of payment of a donation mentioned in Jean-Baptiste Rochon's marriage contract from Estienne Rochon:
What that actually means I'm not entirely sure, as I don't normally work with these kinds of notarial documents.
