King Tut's Sarcophagus was solid gold and weighed 111kg. Where did Egypt get that much gold?

Considering the amount of gold stored in King Tut's tomb, and assuming that other pharaohs had similar burials, that seems an incredible amount of gold to bury in the ground and never see again (which, I suppose, the grave-robbers also agreed upon).

Where did the Kingdom of Egypt get all that gold? Did they use this gold for trade (was gold an import based on their exports)? Did other historical kingdoms (not necessarily at the same time as King Tut's burial) have more or less gold?

Bonus: was there an under-the-table sort of "gold recycling" where old tombs were robbed of gold and that gold found its way back into the next tomb by royal purchasers who were aware of where the gold had been?
