(WW1) Recommended books on the Austrian army/Mackensen/11th army?

by cozyduck

Having read about the Western front to death I am wondering about books on the east. Specifically about the: Austrian army in the east Mackensens exploits 11th army's tale Süd army

I have no real clue where to start and I am reaching out here and wonder if anyone knows any historically sound books on these subjects? Interested even if a book might be very dry and not exciting.

Richard DiNardo has two books with August von Mackensen as his 'protagonist' so to speak, covering the Gorlitz-Tarnow offensive and the Serbian campaign. I highly recommend you pick up Breakthrough: The Gorlice-Tarnow Campaign, 1915 and Invasion: The Conquest of Serbia, 1915 at a library near you, if possible; the amazon copies are rather pricey. To tide you over, you can watch him give presentations on the Polish and Serbian campaigns on the USAHEC youtube channel.
