I have read it was Hitler's praise of Muhammed that gave him a lot of islamic supports, not only in middle eastern countries such as Iran but among some minorities in Soviet Union, Balkans.
Although there is more to be said, /u/commiespaceinvader 's answer to the question "How were Muslims treated in Nazi Germany?" covers a lot of ground. The long and the short of it was that the Third Reich's Islamic policies were too poorly thought out to really constitute a "policy" in the formal sense of the word. But the Nazis' policies tended to treat Muslims at best as tactically useful auxiliaries for the war. There was no alliance between the Third Reich and the Islamic world and the record shows the interaction on both sides was predicated by mutual suspicions and indifference.
