Civilized and uncivilized? What does that even mean?

Are you thinking some regions had civilizations and others didn't? Or like, Europe was civilized and Africa wasn't? Whats ancient times?

Before modern complex societies we had hunter gatherer societies. I'm sure farm societies and hunter gatherers traded, interacted, fought, etc Most of the world was empty in terms of humans until comparatively recently, so there probably was limited interaction between nomadic people and city people.
