Would market economy inside of the USSR and its allies, but still insulated from the rest of the world make any difference in the outcome of the cold war?
I have recently read this article. According to the article, the country of the size of the USSR with few allies can't antagonize the rest of the world and win the arms race when the world economy is globalised.
I ask this question because most of the other sources name the inefficiency of the planned economy as the main reason for the outcome.
