When was the heyday of the Novgorod Empire (1136-1478)?

I am doing this for a school project. Additionally, if you have a source, that would be great.

Just as a policy I won't answer precise school questions, but I can point you towards some sources that will be of use for you to find out on your own.

Janet Martin's tome Medieval Russia 980-1584 is probably the best secondary source for this period. It is a hefty book that sometimes deals with pointless heredity points, but it is probably the most comprehensive for this time. It was used in a course I took on the period as the seminal piece.

The primary sources for this period is spotty at best, which means there is one used for most. Janet Martin, for example uses it in her book for the early part. The source is accurately called The Primary Chronicle which is a primary source by a monk detailing the time period in Kievan Rus and Novgorod before 1100 by Nestor. The second one is conveniently called The Novgorod Chronicle which details events after the Primary Chronicle in the area of Novgorod.

Both sources are primary sources with their own set of issues, obviously, but they are going to be the best foundation for your project. Hope this helps.
