A high noon duel is one of the staple myths of Western fiction. The rivals would meet on a street and would draw their revolvers at noon to shoot each other. However, the Western cinema is greatly exaggerated and covered in legends. The guns were faulty and the towns were much calmer anyway. Is there a mention of such duel happening in reality? Did any of the famous gunslingers participate in it?
More of course can be said, but regarding the 'high noon duel' of popular fiction set in the American West, I would direct you to this old answer of mine which might be of interest.
