There's a classic prize-winning one by Robert Caro on Robert Moses : The Power Broker (1975) which anyone interested in the history of public housing and city planning should read, along with Jane Jacobs' The Death and Life of Great American Cities. Jacobs started out her career as urban activist by opposing Moses.

As it's been decades since Caro's book came out, there's also been some recent re-appraisal of Moses . As the review points out, the beat-up violent and dysfunctional NYC of 1974 has been replaced by the very prosperous NYC of today that has different challenges.
