Many seem to claim that the burning of the Library of Alexandria has set us back at least 1,000 years in terms of technology and the advancement of civilization. I do understand that there is very little known about the contents of the library, but how far back did the burning of the Library really set us back according to what we do know about it?
This is a fairly frequently asked question here. It didn't set us back at all.
