ok, I cannot explain my motives, but I used to buy diaries, slides, scrapbooks, etc at garage sales. Nothing special, but you could trace the family if you wanted to. 1880-1940 midwest, USA
I’m trying to decide what to do with them. Since the families sold them originally, I don’t really feel guilty if I don’t go through all the work of locating family, mailing them, etc. I’m having health issues, so trying to simplify my life, not take on projects.
On the other hand, I know that’s the right thing to do.
Any in-between ideas? or am I deluding myself that any one else would find value in it?
I would suggest you make up a list of the items with a description of what they are, names of the people, sort and file them all by location, then check to see if those locations have historical societies that might want them. As a historical society for a town or a county will typically be asked geneological questions, they would be the best place for family records.
