Development in Gernany's Willing Executioners.

Hi Historians,

I did some research a while a go on the Goldhagen thesis on whether the Ordinary German people are at fault for the Holocaust.(Which i argued against)

I was wondering what the contemprorary historiography looks like on this subject? Is the Goldhagen thesis still discussed? What are some of the opinions/theories floating around now??

Thanks :)

Christopher Browning followed up on the Goldhagen thesis with "Ordinary Men" with presents a very similar thesis and backs up Goldhagen's work. And Jan Gross presented a similar thesis of Polish involvement with "Neighbors". I would say Browning is more discussed than Goldhagen, but the thesis is generally accepted among Holocaust scholars and most contemporary research builds off of that thesis. Because the thesis on German involvement is generally accepted, more scholarship today is done on the involvement of regular citizens in occupied territories. There has been a good deal of research recently on Romania and Lithuania especially.
