How were Jews represented in the political parties of 1917 Russia?

by KoontzGenadinik

There are a lot of questions in this sub about Bolshevik Jewishness, but were the majority of Jews Bolshevik or did they prefer SR/CD/Mensheviks (or even Anarchists)? Which mainstream party or movement had the most support from Jewish political organizations?

The most popular party that was specifically composed of Jews and focused at representing the minority was the Bund (General Jewish Labour Bund in Lithuania, Poland and Russia) that had around 40000 members by 1917 and coperated closely with the Bolsheviks and later the Mensheviks. The other parties, mostly socialist, had significantly less Jewish members although relatively many of them (considering that the Jewish population of Russia was about 1%) were holding top positions in the mainstream parties, for example it was Trotsky, Zinoviev, Kamenev and Sverdlov in the Bolshevik party, Martov and Askelrod in the Menshevik party, etc.
