Questions about a 1914 Chinese 5 Yuan bank note

I purchased yesterday a 5 Yuan note dated October 1, 1914 and I have some questions about some of the images on the note:

    1. At the top of the bill, it says Bank of Communications. This seems like a strange title for a bank. Why is it called that?
    1. It’s a little hard to see, but on the building in the image, it says Chinese Government Post Office. Why would this be the building they featured on the bank note?
    1. It looks like Shanghai is stamped on the note at the bottom. Why would this be printed on it? Would the note be circulated only in Shanghai? I have done some Googling and it looks like the notes stamped Shanghai were all printed with the date October 10, 1914. Is there a reason for this? Also at the bottom, it says American Bank Note Co., New York. I have looked this up too and it looks like they printed currency for a lot of countries. Was there a reason they did this?
    1. Why is the currency printed in English and Chinese? Is this something that would be used in the international settlements?

Thanks in advance for your responses! I have an interest in Chinese history and I hope my questions can be answered.
