I read that Kapok fibre was used as an alternative to cotton in pre-Colombian Meso and South America. How did the price of kapok cloth compare to that of cotton?
I have never heard of kapok fiber being used in Mesoamerica. Ethnohistoric sources seem to indicate the only fibers used for clothing were either cotton or maguey. May I ask where you read that kapok fiber was being used?
