What was the daily life of a person living in the Wild West Era like ? Is it anything like Hollywood depicts?

I have been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for the last 2 months and was just wondering if all shotgun blasting and revolver spinning actually happened.

I will endeavor to take a crack at answering some parts of your question as it actually can't be boiled down simply. Depending on occupation, most people west had similar hours to their eastern counterparts. Shopkeepers sold goods, miners worked, farmers and ranchers tended their lands. May smaller towns were built as you see in some famous Western genre movies and television. Fairly decent construction IF the town was to be a part of a railroad line, meaning that the RR company had already paid for many materials to construct "their" town. It was hard work, daily trying to do the best you could to supply food for your table and earning enough to afford basic goods.

As far as actual violence, saloons and "soiled doves" yup, all of that existed but not as much as you'd think. Well apart from the drinking and whoring, which by some accounts was far worse than depicted. Many larger towns had law, and as such had ordinances against carrying firearms in town. So you could get into a fistfight over at the saloon but very few confirmed shootouts occured within the cities as you had to either leave your weapons at home or surrender them to law enforcement prior to hitting the town proper.

Banditry and robbery DID happen, many famous Wild West names were at one time robbers of some sort or other, evn a few who became known as lawmen later on were not above underhanded activities. The James-Younger gang participated in one of the first daylight armed bank robberies in the United States in 1866, only to have that same activity be the factor in dissolving the gang in 1876.
