First ever 32-panel ball was made by Select in the 1950s.
The adidas Telstar ball made for the 1970 World Cup was the first World Cup with 32 panels. The 32 separate panels created the roundest possible ball; the black and white panels made the balls easier to see on (then predominantly) black and white TV.
