The Texas Constitution adopted in 1845 when Texas was annexed and subsequently admitted as a State included provisions ratifying all laws of the Republic as long as not in conflict with the US Constitution, the resolutions governing the annexation and the new Texas Constitution itself. It further provided that such laws would remain in effect until they expired by their terms or their amendment or repeal by the new Texas government.
