Help me learn something about this painting

by cablewelo2ma

I found a picture of what looks like a painting on the Internet which I liked (I don't remember its exact source), it looked something like an 18th century painting. I used image search engines to find out something about it but it got me no results. I'm new here and I'm not sure if this is related to the subreddit but I'd like anyone to recognize the era or nationality of the painting, maybe even name the painting. Here's the image I found https://postimg.cc/21ckmQsz Thanks in advance.

It's not a painting, it's a photograph with a bunch of filters added to it to try to replicate the look of a painting. For instance the yellowed cracking overlaid on it to mimic the effect of old, cracked varnish on oil paintings. The problem with it is that the scale is much too big compared to the detail of the painting, in reality such spider-webbing of cracks is much finer relative the size of the image.

The biggest giveaway content-wise is that the man's 18th century garb is at odds with the cast-iron lampposts that were placed there during the period of Austro-Hungarian rule of Venice the mid-19th century. This being a very recognizable spot in Venice, in front of the Doge's palace with the Grand Canal and the dome of the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute in the background.

If you look at the same view on Google Maps in the present day you can see the exact same "Servizio Gondole" sign in the background.
