I hope this sub is the right place for this but im a beginer to this kind of thing and so am looking for some treatises to help me get started, im particularly interested in polearms or shield combinations (never at the same time).

You might honestly be better off asking over at r/wma or r/swords, but many historical manuals have been uploaded and organized at https://wiktenauer.com/ which can also be a starting point for you, especially their pages on pole weapons and sword and shield.
