https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/agb4wl/in_1765_a_chimney_sweep_was_banished_from_for_5/ - this is the one I'm talking about. At least two unique, solid, direct and sourced answers have been deleted in the last two hours with no explanation. u/mimicofmodes is the only mod I see in this thread - so what's up??
Hi there. Regarding:
two unique, solid, direct and sourced answers have been deleted in the last two hours
The only two answers I see with "sources" in the removed comments are one that quotes a paragraph from Google books and then uses two paragraphs to speculate, and one that uses Dan Carlin as a "source." (Dan Carlin is not a source.) Neither is up to our standards.
Our rules require that answers in this subreddit be in-depth and comprehensive, and highly suggest that comments include citations for the information. The rules suggest that people answering consider four key points:

with no explanation
We don't always leave removal reasons on removed comments, particularly when threads get popular. What happens, and what's happening there, is that we're getting a flood of "where are all the comments" comments. If we left a removal reason on every comment, we double the number of apparent comments in the thread, which just adds to the snowball effect.
(t would be glorious if Reddit did not count removed comments in the comment count. Unfortunately, despite us asking for this for years, the admins have not chosen to implement this feature.)
Thank you for asking this in a META thread instead of in that thread.
