Sorry if this is a bad question, but imagine if you're joining the German military in 1939. What job (as in tank-driver, infantry, submarine soldier, pilot, soldier on a war ship etc. Not soldier at the eastern front, Normandy etc) would most likely end up costing your life before the end of the war? Are there any statistics on this?
I would guess aircraft crewman based on the fact that by 1944 the Germans were losing them faster than they could be replaced. You could also argue their paratroopers who were never again employed in large scale operations after being slaughtered in Crete.
