How can I find my father's decoration in the army's orders? (4th company of Commandos in engagement in Mozambique in service to Portugal)

I'm not sure if it's here that I should ask but to elaborate my father was given a Medal of the War Cross.

I was curious to know why he received it, however I'm unable to find it in the Collection of Army's Orders which goes from 1809 to 1975 depending on the collection.

Looking between 1960-1975 I've come across the decorations for the war cross, or Cruz de Guerra, and it's very... let's say a bit disorganised.

The dates seem to jump a lot and most decorations don't speak about commandos.

Are there any tips I could use? cause I'm pretty clueless at the moment.

Hello there! As your question is related to looking for identification/information regarding military personnel, our Guide on Military Identification may be of use to you. It provides a number of different resources, including how to request service records from a number of national agencies around the world, as well as graphical aids to assist in deciphering rank, unit, and other forms of badges or insignia. While the users here may still be able to lend you more assistance, hopefully this will provide a good place to start!
