Like the title says come on I am looking for any official records in Khmer or English for Cambodia pre-1972
I'm basically looking for family members and only have a handful of names and a province to go by.
If anyone could direct me in the right direction I would be extremely grateful.
Hello, I believe the last census before the Civil War was done in 1962, I am not sure where you might find that online. However, the Yale Genocide Program has an extensive database of documents that you might find useful... although it is not the most user-friendly system. You can find that link below

The other source of information that would probably be a better bet is to use the documentation centre of Cambodia archives (DCCAM)... although in the last few weeks it seems they have been re-tooling their website (to be fair the old one was pretty bad) but after logging on I couldn't load the pages properly or find the database I was looking for. Interestingly I did find a link to 'family tracing', which wasn't something I was aware they did even when I was at the centre about a month ago.. so if the link works perhaps that might be a good start?
It may be hard, although with some details of a province you have a start.. do you know the village or district as well? I'm not sure if there is a government agency that might specialise in these kinds of matters and I'm afraid I wouldn't really know where to point you either, I wish I could be of more assistance.
You might try posting in r/cambodia as well - perhaps some expats or locals would know more about this process
