Does anyone know of any books on Hungary and Bohemia in the 15th and 16th centuries, especially the reigns of Matthias Corvinus and Vladislaus II Jagiellon? I know of Pál Engel's book on on medieval Hungary and Marcus Tanner's book on Matthias Corvinus' library, but I can't find much more than that, at least in English.
On a related note, I've also been trying to find information on Cardinal Tamás Bakócz, who became the chief minister and advisor to the Vladislaus II Jagiellon, and tried to get himself elected Pope at the conclave of 1513.
You might want to specify your langauge dispositions. I reckon you are not Czech or Hungarian, but German language would be of great use, as many key works on central European history are German or translated only into German.
Try A History of the Czech Lands.
I didn't read the book myself; my bookcase primarily contains history books in Czech. Nevertheless, as far as quality and credibility goes, these two authors are behind the book:
Prof. PhDr. Jaroslav Pánek, DrSc., dr. h. c. - historian, vice-chairman of Czech Academy of Sciences
PhDr. Oldřich Tůma, Ph.D. - historian, director of Institute of Contemporary History
