What was the Empire’s view towards assimilating minorities(aside from killing them)? Did it change as their territories for smaller? Were there financial incentives for conversion/assimialtion(I’m assuming there were legal benefits)?
Specifically, I was wondering how they saw Muslims. Did they see them as a possible fifth column and try to remove any sort of power? Also, I’m curious about the role of population relocations. Sorry for the amount of questions.
