What were the leading theories from 2000 BC - 1600 AD on what Saturn's rings were
The ancients - or anyone else before 1610 - did not know that Saturn (or any other planet) had rings. Galileo discovered them with his telescope in 1610. There were no theories - leading or otherwise - before 1610.
