So I found a primary source in a book and need to reference it in my footnotes and bibliography. I have never done this and so confused. If you can help or provide a good website that would be helpful. It’s recommended to be in Chicago format Thanks
Can you please be a little more specific? Are you working with a long excerpt from a source in a collection of primary sources? Or did the author of a secondary source use a quote from a primary source that you also want to use?
FWIW, in Chicago you can never go wrong by simply the author of the book you're taking it from and the page number where it is. The point of a citation isn't to be crazy, it's to tell the reader where they can look for your information/further information/to verify your informations.
This site is helpful, you can use the auto-cite funtion or the manual entry if you can't find the book. Hope that helps!
