Why does this subreddit remove actual viable answers to these questions and prevent people from learning the answers to the questions asked

by Yourboimason

I understand that this subreddit wants scholarly like articles but a short answer that’s correct is better than no answer at all

We do not remove "actual viable" answers. On AskHistorians, an "actual, viable" answer is in-depth, comprehensive, and supported by current academic research. Our users come here expecting that that is the quality they will get in an answer. Our writers, overwhelmingly, have told us they are willing to put their time and effort into AskHistorians precisely because of our high standards--they don't have to worry about something half-right or half-baked getting attention instead.

If you are not happy with AskHistorians' policies, there is nothing tying you to reading this particular subreddit. You might find /r/AskHistory, or even someplace like Quora or StackExchange, a better fit for your wants.

I recently added back this sub, the responses are fantastic but I immediately feel the need to filter out questions that have zero response. I may connect with the question but have no ability to further discourse while waiting for an "official" response.

A response of "tough shit" is expected. Maintaining high quality and narrow focus has its casualties.

There should be another sub for people who just want quick, correct answers and not a dissertation. The onus should be on people who downvote answers to provide citations as to why the responder was wrong.
