How would prominent ancient romans (late republic) have actually spelled/written their names?

by YannFann

i’m looking for the authentic way which specifically Marcus Tullius Cicero would have written/spelled his own name. it’s to my understanding that much of the english alphabet is altered and adapted from the alphabet used in Cicero’s time. If anybody could help, and possibly provide a source if possible, i’d be grateful :)

tldr: how do you write in proper latin Marcus Tullius Cicero

Pretty sure Marcus Tullius Cicero is the latin way of writting it. We're using the latin alphabet right now. Only thing is that the "j" and "w" did not exist yet and there were no distinction between "v" and "u". Basically "j" is the consonant for of "i" and "v" is the consonant form of "u". Also "k" is an addition for greek words written in latin alphabet. I'm not sure at which point "g" was invented but if i remember correctly it was also from greek influence.
