The Royal Navy did not bombard German towns, though they did bombard German-held towns in Belgium. The Royal Navy did, however, use the Royal Naval Air Service, its air arm, to strike at a number of targets in Germany in a series of raids carried out through the war, launching from aircraft and seaplane carriers offshore. These mainly targeted infrastructure used by the German Navy, such as radio stations and Zeppelin bases. I have covered these raids, along with the various abortive plans for amphibious assaults along the German coast in my answer here.
