In this documentary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XAFjy6Lda0 at 6m13s it is said that there is a mycenaean tablet which register that a priestess refuses to pay taxes to the palace. I'd like to have access to this source. Someone could indicate it to me?
As a heads up, this sort of question is great for the Short Answers to Simple Questions thread.
The DĀMOS database is the standard resource for Linear B tablets. The tablet in question is PY Ep 704. Mycenaean tablet numbers consist of three components:
The findspot. In this case, the tablet is from Pylos (PY), which has yielded a large number of Linear B texts. Additional Mycenaean tablets were found at Knossos (KN), Mycenae (MY), Thebes (TH), Tiryns (TI), and a few other palatial sites.
The series, which indicates the subject matter. In this case, the tablet is part of the E-series, tablets that deal with land tenure. Other series include A and B (personnel), C (cattle), D (sheep), F (offerings and rations), etc.
The subset and shape of the tablet. In this case, it's subset p of the E series, which indicates that the tablet is page-shaped as opposed to, say, palm-shaped.
The relevant lines of PY Ep 704 are line 3:
e-ri-ta i-je-re-ja o-na-to e-ke ke-ke-me-na ko-to-na pa-ro da-mo to-so pe-mo GRA T 4
Eritha the priestess (i-je-re-ja) has leased land (o-na-to), a communal (ke-ke-me-na) parcel (ko-to-na) from (pa-ro) the village (da-mo). Total: GRA T 4 (a way of measuring land area).
and lines 5-6:
e-ri-ta i-je-re-ja e-ke e-u-ke-to-qe e-to-ni-jo e-ke-e te-o da-mo-de-mi pa-si ko-to-na-o
ke-ke-me-na-o o-na-to e-ke-e to-so pe-mo GRA 3 T 9
Eritha the priestess owns and makes a claim (e-u-ke-to-qe) to have tax-exempt land (e-to-ni-jo) for the god (te-o), but the village (da-mo) says that she has a leased plot (o-na-to) of a communal land parcel (ko-to-na-o ke-ke-me-na). Total: GRA 3 T 9
