What kind of comparisons are there between today's "Women in (Science and) Engineering" movement and past movements to motivate women to work in manufacturing plants during World War II?

What other movements have we seen where women campaigned asking for equal pay/positions or gender equality in other industries?

I hope this won't get erased, but I strongly recommend Patricia Fara's A Lab of One's Own which talks about this in WWI.

Fara's book talks partly about university-trained scientists and researchers during WWI and also 'ordinary' women who were seeking equal pay for equal work in technical jobs they had previously been barred from. It would be a good alternative case for answering your question. It's a relatively easy-reading book and very good for dipping into and reading the bits that would be relevant.
