From what I can recall, the Tonga/Polynesian people that originally colonized the remote islands dotting the Pacific Ocean, such as Hawaii, embarked into the Pacific from the east coast of Asia.
Did they ever travel further east than Hawaii and make contact with the tribes inhabiting the North American west coast?
Probably not from Hawaii to North America, but there's some evidence to support the idea that the Rapa Nui from Easter Island made contact with South America. This older thread may be of interest to you.
