How did Muslims view the loss of Islamic Spain?

by Canteni

What was the reaction in the Muslim world when the Christians reconquered Iberia from the Muslims? I know it was a process that took centuries but when the final Islamic sultanate fell in Iberia, what was their immediate reaction? Do they see it much like how Christians viewed the fall of Constantinople, which also took centuries to conquer? Do Muslims today still wish Al-Andalusia survived? Do they see it as conquered/occupied Muslim lands?

I can't address your follow up questions on current perceptions but have written a reply to a similar question focusing on the Ottomans before that you might find interesting.

A few things to keep in mind for that: 1) The end of the Emirate of Granada in 1492 did not mean the end of a Muslim presence in Iberia. Rather the remaining Muslims then known as moriscos were forcibly converted and many remained until the early 17th century. 2) This was a security risk for the Spanish Crown who feared Ottoman invasions with morisco help. Such plans to free the moriscos did exist but were never carried out for various reasons, as I discuss in that answer.
