Hello, I was recently looking into coins and saw coins like this being sold. Was this a regular type of currency the everyday person would use, was it for government use, simply commemorative, or some other use?
The coin in question is only a little more than 1/10 ounce of gold. That would translate to roughly $2.00 in American currency, representing a day's or a half day's wage in US; this would be a reasonable coin for currency and circulation. The US, for example, had a 2 1/2 dollar gold coin.
